An Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) is a residential dwelling that can be built on a lot with an existing single-family home or multi-family development.

ADUs can be different types of dwellings.

-Detached (a separate building in the backyard)

-Built as an Addition to part of an existing structure (an existing residence or unconditioned space, like a garage or shed)

-Can be converted from an existing garage, or other part of an existing residence.

ADUs are independent units that must have their own kitchens, bathrooms, and entrances. All CA and state standards require them to have their own individual utilities and appliances.

ADUs have many names:

Energy Calculations (also known as a Title 24 report or CF1R) need to be submitted to city enforcement agencies with your building permit application.

A Title 24 report documents that a building project complies with California Energy Code requirements. It is required for most new construction, additions, and major alterations to obtain building permits and pass inspections.

Title 24 energy calculations are required for residential and commercial projects, including new buildings, room additions, HVAC replacements, lighting upgrades, and significant plumbing or water-heating modifications.

We provide complete Title 24 energy compliance services, including energy calculations, CF1R/NRCC documentation, HVAC design and sizing (Manual J, S, and D), and plumbing and water-heating system design in accordance with California codes.

Accurate energy calculations help ensure code compliance while optimizing system efficiency. This can reduce construction costs, improve comfort, lower energy bills, and prevent permit or inspection issues.

To begin, we typically need architectural plans, project scope, location, system details (HVAC, lighting, plumbing), and any local jurisdiction requirements. Our team will guide you through the process to make it simple and efficient.
